A LA MODUS…WHETHER THE WEATHER

image

I don’t think anyone knows how to dress in this weather.
I walk to work in the morning clutching my jacket for dear life, fighting back the winds attempt to Marilyn Monroe me to the whole of West London and by mid-day I’m practically melting into my desk chair!
This lot seems to have got it down though – from ladies in their easy-breezy summer dresses to the gents with their rolled up trousers and peek-a-boo socks… It’s looking like whether it’s rain or shine, Modettes can um…weather…the…weather.

MODUS PRESENTS… THE FUTURE OF DIGITAL

image

Today saw the inaugural event of a new creative forum from Modus – Modus Presents.  Modus Presents is designed to focus attention and discussion on subjects we find compelling, inspirational and essential. ‘The Future of Digital: Friend or Foe’ was the first of these events.

It was a bright and early start at The Club at The Ivy this morning, with a diverse cross section from the fashion, beauty, lifestyle and media industries with attendees from the British Fashion Council, Calvin Klein, Jaeger, L’Occitane, Pringle of Scotland and News International to name a few, all gathered to hear our first guest speaker Professor Jonathan Briggs.

Jonathan has 20 years’ experience in the digital field; Jonathan is a founder of Hyper Island - a Digital Media “university”, Strategic Director of the OTHER media, Professor of E-Commerce at Kingston University and has worked with a diverse range of clients, from the V&A and BAFTA to the Royal Academy of Arts and Paul Smith.

His aim today was to clear some of the muddy waters surrounding digital and digital engagement, and advise brands how to recognise and define their digital goals, invest wisely, involve their audience, and most importantly, measure and learn from their experiences.  Jonathan was a lively and engaging speaker who enthused his audience, stimulated debate, and was surrounded by inquisitors once the talk had finished.

We ‘re looking forward to the next Modus Presents…

A LA MODUS… HOT IN THE CITY

image

“Excuse me” I heard a gentleman say to my colleague as we sipped peach bellinis at our favourite after-work joint - piccolino, “I always see the most beautiful women coming out of your building, is it a modeling agency?”  I almost spit fruit bits all over the table at the very idea.  Then I took a quick scan around at the gaggle of gorgeous Modettes surrounding me in their vintage dresses, funky patterns and killer shoes and realized that, well, they may as well be!

Oh, wipe that look off your face. No one has ever accused a PR of being modest!

MODUS LOVES… ADAM KIMMEL AND GEORGE CONDO WINDOW DISPLAY AT COLETTE

image

I couldn’t resist stopping and taking a few pictures of this window display at Colette in Paris on Saturday - these eerie creations are the work of artist George Condo for menswear designer Adam Kimmel for his AW10 collection presentation in February, and now sending shivers down the spines of passersby on Rue Saint-Honoré...

LONDON COLLEGE OF FASHION POP-UP EXHIBITION

image

Walking down Carnaby Street this afternoon I came across the London College of Fashion Pop-up Exhibition, where you can “Sample a taste of what the School of Media and Communication at London College of Fashion has to offer”.

I love its demonstration of creativity through so many different forms of art.  My favourite pieces were the 3-D photos where you put on a pair of glasses and everything pops out at you - very cool!

The exhibition is completely free, open seven days a week and runs until the end of September.  Definitely worth checking out, details here.

‘SLEB STALKING AT THE GLAMOUR AWARDS

image

L-R from the top: Justine with... boxer David Haye, X Factor's Olly Murs, James Corden, Piers Morgan

Sarah and Olly Murs, Dru & David with Amanda Holden, Justine and Sarah with Amanda Holden

Justine certainly threw herself into the spirit of things last night, grabbing photo-ops with any passing celebrity she could get her hands on (or at least those who didn’t move fast enough!).  Not to be left out, David and Dru made a beeline for Amanda Holden, closely followed by Sarah and of course Justine again…
