LONDON FASHION WEEK: BALLY & CENTRAL ST MARTINS SHOE COLLABORATION

London Fashion Week: Bally and Central St Martins Shoe Collaboration
In 2009 Bally tasked 15 students, selected by Louise Wilson from both the 1st and 2nd year of Central St Martins MA Fashion Design Course to submit women’s shoe designs to Bally. Out of the original 15, Bally and Central St Martins jointly selected 5 students to have their work developed at Bally’s workshops in Florence, Italy and Caslano, Switzerland - the results were on display to the press yesterday, 23rd Feb, at Browns Hotel, London.
Working from a brief that asked them to create designs with high editorial value and a strong feeling of luxury each student’s work focused on accentuating a different part of the foot. All 5 students Estefania Cortes Harker, William Hendry, Frida Hofslagare, Stephanie Turner and Charles Youssef were on hand to show off their shoes and talk about their inspiration.
And, news of the collaboration spread quickly across town – our favourite fashion bloggers and tweeters wasted no time in acknowledging the highly creative talents of the group.

LONDON FASHION WEEK: PRINGLE OF SCOTLAND AW10: SHOW

London Fashion Week: Pringle of Scotland: Show
Creative Director Clare Waight Keller on her AW Collection: “There are a lot of Scottish influences of course, but it was also about pairing it down and playing with proportions. Small tops and bigger bottoms! I also wanted to mix up textures, so we used tweed and tartans, but mixed it up with leathers and shearling.
The skirt pleats for example, were a way of breaking up and deconstructing the kilt into many layers to give it more movement and abstract quality. I have many favourites in the collection of course, but I especially like the sweater dresses with the velvet back and the big pants!

LONDON FASHION WEEK: PRINGLE OF SCOTLAND AW10: ARTIST TALKS

London Fashion Week: Pringle of Scotland: 195 Collaboration Talks
195 Collaboration Talks
As part of Pringle’s 195 year celebration this morning Julia Peyton-Jones, Serpentine Gallery Director presented the 195 Collaboration Talks at the Serpentine gallery to unveil collaborations with various Scottish artists, all inspired by Pringle garments, patterns and styles, focusing on the iconic twin-set.
Scotsman Waris Ahluwalia, Scot-rockers Franz Ferdinand and Turner Prize winners Richard Wright and Douglas Gordon are still working on their twinset, with Gordon promising a flesh-toned piece which would duplicate in intarsia patterned cashmere the tattoos that litter his torso.
Expect twinset from Colette’s Sarah Lerfel and Corso Como’s Carla Sozzani as well.
Each twinset will have a limited quantity of 195 pieces. The project plans to donate all proceeds from the collaboration to the gallery’s public and educational programs.

LONDON FASHION WEEK: MATTHEW WILLIAMSON AW10: SHOW

London Fashion Week: Matthew Williamson: Show
A cold Sunday afternoon was cheered up significantly by a stunning collection from Matthew Williamson who took inspiration from the culture of Spanish matadors featuring fan details on cobalt, purple, and salt-and-pepper tweed suits; fiesta prints; toreador trousers; and dazzling shifts and gowns in gold and silver, based on bullfighters’ jackets. Heavily embellished pieces were sprinkled with Swarovski crystals. Matthew was cheered from the front row by many celeb friends, Trish Goff, Yasmin le Bon and her daughter Amber, Jodie Harsh and Ben Grimes who joined best mate and muse Sienna Miller who took time out from prep for her own Twenty8Twelve presentation.

Formidable front rows of UK and International editors were joined by celebs such as Peaches Geldof, Rachel Stevens, The Saturdays, The Holloways and the lovely Erin O’Connor. My Autumn Winter wardrobe wish list has already started and in top place is most of the Jaeger collection especially the teal velvet dress and flat sheepskin lined boots, you will know where to find me come September!
